Butterfly Birthday

Good morning!  Here is a quick card I did for a friend's sister.  She was absolutely no help at all (yes, Kelsey, I'm talking to you!) trying to pick out an image/theme to use.  She originally wanted something kind of Jersey Shore themed, but that was a bit challenging to find (although we found some seriously amusing images during our search!), we went from that to something sisterly, to purple and butterflies, so this is what I finally came up with.  I will admit that I tend to get stuck on wanting to use an image of a person, mostly because that's what I enjoy coloring the most, but it's good to be forced out of my comfort zone at times.  The image was a Freebie at Create With TLC that I can't seem to find the direct link to, maybe with some searching you could.  It is colored with Copics, and I added some stickles to the flowers and the butterfly wings.  One of the birds and the butterfly are popped up with foam squares.  The edges are sponged with Studio g orange Chalks ink.
The sketch was from My Time Made Easy - Pretty Patterns Sketch #56
Papers:  Recollections - "Purple Butterflies", My Mind's Eye - Bohemia - "Light Blue", 29th Street Market - "Very Violet", K&C - "Jubilee Purple Burst"
Embellies:  Recollections Brads, and Michaels Ribbon
I'm glad the sun is back out after some pretty dreary and dreadfully humid days, and I hope the pollen goes away soon, everything is just covered in yellow dust.  My poor hubby has never had allergies before but he seems to have developed them this season.  I'm going to take my chances and sit outside at the new picnic table at work to do some coloring at lunchtime.

Hope everyone has a lovely day, and then it's the weekend again already.  Gotta love short weeks!

Corrosive Challenge # 150 - Not Too Shabby

Welcome to another Sunday Corrosive Challenge! This week is all about Shabby Chic or Vintage themed projects. Our sponsor for this week is Tickled Pinks Stamps. These images are so diverse, you can really find just about anything you would want here. I fell in love (pun intended he he) with this image, Lil Greek Gods Lolita Aphrodite Willow.  I did do a little editing and removed the bird.  This was gifted to my Stepmother, for both her Birthday and Mother's Day which both fall in May (Mirthday Card?  Bimother's Day?)  She is a lovely, caring, thoughtful, smart woman, and I am very lucky to have been blessed with her for a Stepmother.  I always think of the color blue when I think of her so that was my starting point.  The sketch is # 182 from Sketch Saturday :
This was a daunting one for me for some reason.  I had the image colored, the papers and everything picked out for at least a month, and it just sat there taunting me.  I finally dove in and got it together, and I love how it came out.  To give it a shabby feel, I distressed all the edges with scissors, and sponged a little brown ink on the edges of the image and the sentiment.  The sentiment is computer generated, using the Glider Girls font from Free Scrapbook Fonts .

Papers:  Little Yellow Bicycle:  Vintage - "Bliss" and "Meet me in the meadow"
Embellishments:  Mark Richards Mosaic crystal stickers, Queen & Co pearls, Combo of Recollections and Wild Orchid flowers.
Thanks for stopping by, and come and get your vintage on over at The Corrosive Challenge.  Can't wait to see all your creations.

Owl Shower

You Whooooo.  Good morning, the sun is back out after some crazy weather, and it looks to be an awesome weekend for any Memorial Day celebrations.  I am looking forward to a BBQ at work tomorrow, and a few get togethers over the weekend.  I am especially looking forward to the long weekend.  Ahhhhh.
This was a card for my co-worker's sister for her baby shower.  The inspiration was from her shower invite, isn't it adorable?

I definitely have a thing for owls, so this was a fun one.  I did a search for Owl Digi stamps and happened upon several at Pink Cat Studio that would work, I had a hard time picking which one to use!  I ended up choosing Cuddles I liked that he was sitting on a branch like the invitation.  There are really a lot of super cute digis available at this site, I will definitely be returning.  Cuddles is colored with Copics, and popped up with foam squares.  Sentiment was a freebie that I have had for forever.  I cut out the background image using Labels 8 Spellbinder, and sponged a little around the image with some blue Studio g ink.  The border punch is Fiskars.
Sketch was # 67 from Try Stampin On Tuesday I liked that it was clean and simple, also like the invitation.

Papers:  American Crafts, Everyday - "Yo!" and "Salut", others from stash.
Embellishments:  Button from stash, baker's twine purchased at Ink About It, two small black Queen + Co pearls for the eyes.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, with lots of fun, food, family, friends, and cold beverages!

Corrosive Challenge # 149

The new challenge at The Corrosive Challenge is Flowers and Bling and Doilies - Oh My!  Use at least two of these elements on your project.  Since most of us use these often, I expect to see lots of amazing entries for this one!  I chose an image I have had for awhile now, she was a generous freebie offered by Krista Smith from Saturated Canary.  For some reason, I have been afraid of coloring these, they seem so delicate and intricate, but I finally took the plunge!  She's colored with Copics, and the layout was cased from Googling other people's creations using this image.  The floral paper was from stash, and I used an embossing folder on some pink cardstock.  Sentiment is computer generated.  The Bling was a recollections swirl, and 3 Martha Stewart Opal Birthstone gem stickers.  I wanted to put a big cluster of flowers, they are a mix of BBP Twisted Flowers, Recollections Roses, and Wild Orchid roses.

This card was for the daughter of a friend from college.  She is around the same age as my son (4), and was in the hospital, facing a rather long recovery from an illness that was difficult to diagnose.  It was heartbreaking, but my friend is a very strong woman, and they had a lot of support, love and prayers surrounding them.  I hope she will be fully recovered as quickly as possible, and that this card at least brought a little smile to their faces.  She was finally able to go home after several weeks in the hospital, thank goodness.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and am really looking forward to seeing your creations over at The Corrosive Challenge Blog!  Thanks so much for taking a peek.  Happy Mother's Day to all you crafty moms out there!

Sassy Studios Guest DT call

Hello there Sassy crafters.  I saw that Sassy Studio Designs is having a Guest DT call for June, and decided to enter for a chance.  I use Sassy images quite a bit, and have been looking to branch out a little bit.  And it was a good chance to make a card just for fun and for ME, lol.  I am a bit of a flower child on the inside, so when I saw Hippie Chic I knew she was perfect for my card.  I'm pretty sure I may have donned a similar outfit in my younger days!  She is colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up with foam squares.  The two corners are popped up as well.
Sketch is # 206 at Sketch Saturday, so I'll be entering that challenge.

Papers:  My Minds Eye - Bohemia "Light Blue" & 29th Street Market "Very Violet/Lovely Lines", K&C "Jubilee Purple Burst".
Embellishments:  Queen & Co pearls, Recollections pearl swirl, Recollections glitter brads, and WOC flowers.
It's so great of all the challenge blogs out there to offer an opportunity to crafters to be part of their teams, and be able to gain new experiences and expand our horizons.
I am SOOOO glad it's Friday, this has been a long week, between my 4 year old and 16 year old stepson's activities, we have been super busy, and I feel like the hubby and I have been merely ships passing in the night.  The weekend is a bit busy too but I am hoping for a little downtime on Sunday.  Thank you to Mother Nature for cooperating to give all us moms some sunshine!

Happy Weekend!

Green Lady Mother's Day

Good morning peeps.  As many of us know, this Sunday is Mother's Day, which means lots of cards to be made and gifted.  This was a request from another co-worker, who is my best (and only repeat) "client", LOL.  Her mother is Japanese so I thought this Green Lady image from ADFD was perfect.  She is colored with Copics, and I added some glitter and a small gem to the flower in her hair.  I sponged a little around the edges of the image with Studio g Chalks yellow, and then a brassy color over that.  Here is a closeup:

Sketch is #141 by Melissa Craig at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  I really should start trying to actually use the current sketches to enter some challenges!

Papers:  Recollections Pink & Orange Floral (why yes, my table cloth does match the paper ha ha), and the rest from stash.
Embellies:  Recollections cloth brads, and it's a bit dark, but the oriental coin is also Recollections.  My very last Martha Stewart quilled butterfly (sniffle), Celebrate it ribbon, and the punch is a newly purchased Recollections border punch (think I go to Michaels much?).

I will enter in the following Challenge(s):
For Mom/Special Lady - Love to Create
For The Ladies - Stamp and Create
Challenge #62 Mother's Day - Celebrate the Occasion
and at the prompting of a new DT member,
Challenge # 13: Mother Dear - Tuesday Alchemy (thanks for the heads up, Victoria!)
Hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day weekend.

Baby Shower

Hola, Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!!  Quick card I made for a co-worker, we happened to be out to lunch on Friday (ok, really we were shopping at TJ Maxx at lunchtime) together, and it came up in conversation that I made cards, and she needed a card for a baby shower this weekend.  Of course I was happy to oblige.  Image is another lovely one from A Day For Daisies called Babies Smile.  Isn't it so sweet?  Image is colored with Copics.  I struggled a bit with the baby's hair, since it was just a blank space on the image.  It came out...ok, I suppose.
The rest:
Papers:  Crate Paper, Paper Hearts Collection - "Love Letter".
Embellies:  Recollection pearls, Recollection & WOC Flowers.  Ribbon from stash.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, and I sure hope the sun decides to make an appearance soon.  We did need the rain, but I think we're good now!  I do think I see a hint of blue sky through the clouds.  Looking forward to some Cervezas and Margaritas later on.  Ole!
