Corrosive Challenge # 161 - Know When to Fold 'Em

"This is Halloween, this is Halloween".  Close enough anyways!  My son has been cracking me up lately singing the theme song from A Nightmare Before Christmas.  He saw it for the first time recently and can't stop singing.  He is also partial to The Monster Mash.  It's no surprise that he is a fan of Halloween, as it is one of the hubby and my favorite holidays.  We try to go all out with lights and tons of carved pumpkins, and decorations that move and make spooky sounds or talk to you.  We are hoping the impending storm doesn't interfere too much with the big day.

This month at The Corrosive Challenge we welcomed back an amazing Sponsor, Sassy Studio Designs. There are some awesome new Disney Villain and Halloween releases available right now. Perfect for playing along with our challenges!  Be sure to check them out.

For the last of our October challenges, we want to see if you "know when to fold 'em" show us a card with more than one fold.  This was another good challenge for me, as the only "fancy fold" I have done is an easel card.  I cased a card from my teammate Regan from Charmed Stamping and tried out a twisted easel.  It really was quite simple, and yields a very cool result.

This card was for my dad for his birthday, ANOTHER October birthday boy!  My cousin, son, dad, Grandfather and co-worker all have October birthdays!
My dad has always loved nature, and the outdoors, and hiking, camping and going on adventures.  Last year for his birthday he was on an unguided rafting trip down the Colorado river for 3 weeks!  I chose to work with the Green Man image from Delicious Doodles.

Green Man is colored with Copics, with glossy accents and some stickles added for some dimension.  Sketch was # 227 at Sketch Saturday.

Papers:  Bo Bunny "Apple Cider Autumn", "Apple Cider Stripe".
Embellies:  Jolee's Boutique Dimensional Felt Acorn, EK Success Maple Leaf stickers, Hemptique Metallic classic cord, Ribbon, brads and pearls from stash.

Can't wait to see all the Fancy Folds people come up with for our new challenge at The Corrosive Challenge.

Hopefully the impending Hurricane is not as bad as they are saying, hope everyone stays safe and sound.

May The Cake Be With You

This was the first of many October birthday cards to make this month.  My cousin just started his Freshman year at Phillips Academy, no small feat!  He is an awesome young man, and has always loved Star Wars, so I knew this freebie from Mayzy Art was perfect for him.

Leah and Hans are colored with Copics and popped up on foam squares.  The layout was #28 at Fetch-a-sketch.  I cut out around them using Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles, then mounted that onto a larger cut out.  The edges are inked with studio g gold ink.
Sentiment was just computer generated, I wanted to do some sort of funny play on a Star Wars quote.

Papers:  Die Cuts with a view 8X8 "Black Star Swirl Gold", and "Stag Star Gold".
Embellies:  Queen and Co pearls, Recollections rhinestone swirls, Wilton Silver 4" doily.

Challenges Entered:
Crafty Catz - A MALE CARD
Stampin for the Weekend - #20 Anything Goes
Craft Us Crazy - #29 Black and/or Party

Thanks for looking, and be sure to stop by The Corrosive Challenge on Sunday for the last of our October Challenges!

Corrosive Challenge #160 - Treacherous Treats

Trick-or-Treat!  Well, maybe no tricks this time.  Our new challenge for this fortnight at The Corrosive Challenge Blog is to  make a Halloween themed treat holder or container.

This month we are lucky enough to welcome back an amazing Sponsor, Sassy Studio Designs. There are some awesome new Disney Villain and Halloween releases available right now.  Perfect for playing along with our challenge!  I decided to work with Wicked Honey part of the Halloween Honey's collection at the Sassy Studio Designs Store.  I love her!
Picking the image was easy, but this truly was a challenge for me.  At first I was going to buy a pre-made container of some sort, but I really wanted it all to be handmade, so after a little googling, I decided on a cone holder.  It worked out perfectly because it also looks a little like a witch hat!  I simply took a piece of design paper and made a cone, glued the edges together and trimmed the top to make a circle.  I added black feathers around the rim, and attached a ribbon for hanging.  I also added a tassel to the bottom using more feathers, a circle sentiment ("A Treat For You"), and ribbon to hang it.  I added pearls, flowers and some stickers to give it all some dimension.

She is colored with Copics, and cut out using a beaded oval Spellbinder die cut.  I added glossy accents to her lips and eyes, and Eucalyptus stickles to the cobwebs on her hat and sash.

This was a super fun project, and now I have a handmade decoration to add to my collection of Halloween stash!  Can't wait to see some sickeningly sweet projects at The Corrosive Challenge Blog. Come and join the fun!

Punkin' Shower

My friend's sister is having a fall baby and her shower theme was pumpkins and fall.  I of course had to make a card for her, and I was happy to.  I ADORE all the fairies at Mo's Digital Pencil, and Fall Fairy Jesen was perfect for the occasion.  Could he BE any cuter?

Jesen is colored with Copics, with a generous helping of stickles added to his wings.  I cut him out using lacy circles Spellbinders die, sponged a little yellow ink around the image.  I wove some Hemptique twine through the lacy part of the circle.  I made it an easel card so it could be displayed at the shower.

Papers, brads and ribbon all from stash.  Very excited to be able to play along in the "B" is for... challenge at Mo's Challenge Blog.  (B being for baby boy in this case)

Fall has definitely arrived here in New England.  It's getting chilly, windy, gray, and the leaves are changing.  I don't mind the fall, but I could totally do without winter.  Lots to look forward to the rest of the month.  My son's 5th birthday is on Monday, but we're having a little party for him on Sunday.  next weekend are my Dad and Grandfather's birthdays. We'll be going to a weenie roast for my grandfather's 80th!  After that a fun day with a friend at a local farm, and then Halloween!  Phew.
Be sure to check back this weekend for a new Corrosive Challenge too!

Thanks for stopping by.
