Corrosive Challenge #189 - Anything Goes

Ack!  December already?!  How did this happen?  Where did the year go?  The countdown is on for Christmas and New Years.  But before that, we do have one more challenge for the year at The Corrosive Challenge.  We have a fun new sponsor with lots of adorable images to choose from.

http://lacysunshine.weebly.com/

The team was lucky enough to be able to choose an image, and I had a hard time picking!  Even though I probably should have made a Christmas Card, I am a sucker for Asian-inspired images, so I went with the lovely Sky Lynn.

She is colored with Copics, glossy accents added to her eyes and lips, and some glitter added to the butterflies.  Papers are Bo Bunny "serenity" collection, I have had in my stash awhile now, bought at Ink About It in Westford, MA.  (I really need to get back over there, I haven't been in awhile.)

All embellies are Recollections, purchased at Michaels.  I'm glad I finally got to use those butterflies, I purchased 2 packages of them thinking they were great, but they never really worked with anything until now.

I guess that's it.  I really need to start getting busy with Christmas cards, I always end up behind!

Hope everyone has a wonderful, magical Holiday Season!

Corrosive Challenge #188 - Happy Holidays

If you know me, you know I LOVE Christmas, decorations, lights, trees and of course, Christmas music.  I know some people hate how early everything gets started, but I love every minute of it, and was so excited when two different radio stations have started playing all Holiday music.  SCORE!  I find it pretty hard to be in a bad mood with Holiday music on (unless Christmas Shoes comes on, that song should be outlawed, and the people responsible for bringing it to fruition should be severely penalized!!)

Anyways, since the Holidays are right around the corner whether you are ready or not, the team at the Corrosive Challenge has a new challenge and of course another sponsor for the occasion.  We're all excited to welcome back C.C. Designs (formerly All That Scraps).

Visit the shop to browse through their adorable selection, and keep up to date on C.C. Designs news on the blog!  C.C. Designs has not only generously provided each design team member with an image to use, but they are offering 3 digital images of choice to the winner!

The team is feeling festive so our theme is "Happy Holidays"!  Any winter holiday qualifies, whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Yule, Kwanzaa, or Festivus!

One of my all time favorite Holiday songs is "Baby It's Cold Outside", so it was an easy choice when I found the image of the same name in the shop here.  She is so stinkin' cute!
She is colored with Copics and her coat and hat are paper pieced.  I added some icicle stickles to the fur, because, why not!  Here's a closer look:
I did use a sketch but I can't seem to find it again!  I ADORE the reindeer paper I used, all papers are from a K & Co "Mod Holiday" paper pad.  "Winter Wonderland" sentiment is by Me & My BIG Ideas Soft Spoken Embellishments.  Snowflake border is Tim Holtz "Snow Flurries" On The Edge Die.  Recollections brads and pearls, and Stampin' Up "Blushing Bride" pleated satin ribbon.

That's all folks!  Hope to see lots of Holiday Cheer at The Corrosive Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Gobble Gobble :-)

Catching Up

I know I've been pretty quiet lately, other than posts for The Corrosive Challenges, but I have actually been making some other cards.  Thought I'd take a minute to actually post a few.  First up was a card for my boss's birthday.  He is a great guy and really tries to take care of all his employees.  He loves music, so I thought Kenny K's Madame Axe was perfect.
She is colored with Copics, and the edges of the image are sponged with Tim Holtz distress ink.  Ribbon and brads are from stash, Rock button is Making Memories "Just Chillin" badge brads, plaid paper is from DCWV Tahiti Beach Stack, and the orange is from K&Co "Edamame" Paper Pad.  Stick gems are Ki, bronze metal accents.  Here's a closer look:
And lastly, the sketch was Sketch was #196 at Sweet Sunday .  (Look familiar?  LOL)

Lucky enough for me, I just saw that the new challenge over at KennyK's Krafty Krew is "Anything Goes", so I am excited to be able to enter a challenge with this one too.

Second on the list was a card for my stepbrother, who lives in California.  Sadly because of the distance we don't get to see each other that often, but I am very excited because he is going to be out in Mass over the Christmas holiday this year, so we'll get to see him and his lovely wife who is from Australia.  I could listen to her talk all day!

I have a hard time coming up with masculine cards sometimes.  I have had the image for this one for sometime now.
She is "Showgirl" by Victoria Case.  Those feathers were tricky, let me tell ya!  I decided to just go crazy with polka dots with papers from DCWV Lady Couture paper stack.

I added some black glitter to the dice she is sitting on, and embellished with me & my BIG ideas "Las Vegas" stickers.  I added glossy accents to her lips, eyes and jewels.  Sketch was and OLD one I still had printed out #53 from Sketches By Carly

So there we go, I haven't been nearly as lazy as it seems!  I may even be back later with a couple more I didn't share yet.  Stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by.

Corrosive Challege 187 - Fur and Feathers

Can someone please tell me where the year went?  I must have been sleepwalking or something, because I can hardly remember summer, and it seems like LAST holiday season was not that long ago!  Oh well, I do love the holidays, and decorating, and eating turkey and shopping so at least it's not all bad that they have come so quickly.

It's time for a new challenge at The Corrosive Challenge Blog with a fantastic returning sponsor, Rick St Dennis .  Rick's images are a great mix of unique, fantasy, creepy and some lovely ladies.  Since many of his images feature fur and feathers, that is the goal for this challenge.  Your project must have fur or feathers somewhere on it, or on the image.  The team was luck enough to each be able to choose an image, I wanted to start getting ahead with my Christmas cards, so I chose 2012 Prince of Christmas Santa isn't he just awesome?

Santa is colored with Copics, with lots of stickles added to his jewels, and fine white glitter on the fur on his outfit.
Papers are from a K & Co Christmas Cheer specialty pad.  Pine cone stickers are Martha Stewart.  Bling and feathers are from my stash.  Sketch is #196 at Sweet Sunday .  I really like this because it's a simple one.
I guess that's about it!  Hope to see lots of entries for the new challenge.  Thanks for stopping by.

Challege # 185 - Dress Me Up

Happy October 13th.  While this may be a spooky date to some, it's just a sign of many of the Corrosive Challenge team's favorite Holidays...Halloween!  Just around the corner now.  Pumpkins!  Candy! and of course, COSTUMES!  Which brings us to our newest challenge theme:  "Dress Me Up."  We are thrilled to welcome back one of our favorite sponsors, Sassy Studio Designs!

They recently had a mini release of some fab new images, and Lindsay has tons of amazing digis that are perfect for this challenge.  Be sure to check them all out at the SSD Store.

Here is my creation, using the awesome Halloween - Frankenstein/Zombie.  Love her!!

Everything is the usual cocktail - colored with Copics, Papers and brads from stash, WOC flowers, and the sentiment is computer generated.
Not much else to add, still recouperating from a 6 year old birthday party, my son turns 6 on the 15th, and he had 7 friends over for a party on Saturday.  SO MUCH ENERGY in one place, I wish you could bottle it up!  LOL.
Looking forward to a 3-day weekend, woo hoo!!

Thanks for stopping in, and be sure to join in the new The Corrosive Challenge

Challenge # 184 - Cute and Creepy

Not going to lie here, I forgot a little that I needed to do a post today.  While I should have been doing it, I was doing this:

We needed a new Halloween decoration, we had a garden gnome...voila!  We may put some "brains" in the basket closer to Halloween.

There was also a new challenge at The corrosive challenge with one of my absolute favorite sponsors Dilly Beans Stamps

I just adore all of Megan Suarez 's images.  The team has made some fabulous inspiration be sure to check it out!

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely fall weather we've been having.

Corrosive Challenge #183 - Maiden, Mother, Crone

Time for a new challenge over at The Corrosive Challenge we are celebrating women of all sorts this fortnight.  Witches, fairies, princesses, mothers you name it.  we are lucky to welcome back a delightful returning sponsor - Delicious Doodles .  Many of Teri's awesome images are perfect for this task!

I was able to work with the fabulous Fan-Tasia isn't she gorgeous!?  I knew I had some asian-style Bo Bunny papers in my stash that would work perfectly with her.  She is colored with Copics, with glitter and glossy accents added here and there.

Kind of a quick post this time, have a wedding to go to in Long Island today, and decided to just go there and back for the day due to babysitting constraints.  Eek!  Going to be so tired on Monday but the wedding should be fun.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's entries to our new challenge.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Corrosive Challenge #182 - All About Fall

Well, I guess this is it.  Labor Day weekend, the end of summer, one last hurrah before the cold settles in.  Although it makes me sad to say goodbye to summer, I DO like autumn.  Back to School, pretty foliage, and of course, Halloween!  We'll be spending our long weekend doing a little BBQ-ing, back to school shopping, and hopefully a little crafting, as my anniversary is on Tuesday, and I decided to try to make something instead of buying a gift...maybe I'll post it if it turns out ok!

A new challenge means a new sponsor, and The Corrosive Challenge has a wonderful company lined up for you!  We are very pleased to welcome Meljen's Designs!  These images are just too stinkin' cute.

What better way to usher in a new month, a new season, a new challenge, and a new sponsor than to make it "All About Fall"!  Fall colors, Fall images, anything Fall at all and it qualifies for the challenge!  The team was given some images to work with, and though it was hard to choose, (I ended up changing my mind!), I worked with the adorable "Big Sweater Kid"
My son will be starting Kindergarten on Wednesday, so I thought this would be a perfect image to use for a card for his new teacher.
He is colored with Copics, with glossy accents added to his eyes and shoes.  Sketch was an older one I have had printed out.  I added a couple stickers from K & Co "Teacher" sticker medley, some hemp twine, and metal gem stickers.  Papers all from DCWV "The Wild Splendor" Stack.

Wishing everyone a Happy Fall, be sure to stop by The Corrosive Challenge to enter your finest fall creations!

Corrosive Challenge #181 - Kenny K Steampunk

Happy Sunday, blogland.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, and enjoying the lovely weather we've been having (at least here in New England).  Just last week I enjoyed a week off from work, and a visit with my mom up from Florida.  It was wonderful.  We also got a new puppy!!  My dear dog Snickers had to be put down back in October (he was 13 and lived a long and happy life).  I finally decided I was ready for a new furry friend and finally found "the one" during a visit to the Sterling Animal Shelter.  His name is Cooper and over all, he is a really good boy, and so much fun to have around.

He is growing and learning fast, and I am so grateful to have adopted him!

I am also ALWAYS glad when we welcome back a fantastic sponsor:  Kenny K!

Stamps from Kenny K are a fun and edgy way to add the perfect dose of attitude and style to all of your creations!  The winner of the challenge will win a prize of 5 digi stamps!

In honor of 3 new hotties added to their Steampunk Burlesque line of stamps, the new Corrosive Challenge  simply "Steampunk".  Create a project with a steampunk theme.  As they describe it, over at Kenny K  "anything that is ornately embellished, with crazy amounts of fun and intricate Victorian-era detail - while retaining a modern rebellious attitude!"

Now, I'm not gonna lie, I'm not the hugest fan of the whole steampunk thing...I guess maybe I just don't really get it, or maybe it's just not my style BUT when I saw the selection of images we could use, I had a hard time choosing, and realized that I could totally make things work, and just in time for an anniversary card for my hubby (Sept 3rd - 8 years!)

Paige Parisol is colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up with foam dots.  I added some glossy accents to her eyes, lips and the buttons on her gloves and boots.

I didn't end up using a sketch, so of course it took me twice as long, lol.  But I am pretty happy with the results.

Papers:  K & Company "Life's Journey" paper pad.
Embellies:  Colorbok metal keys, Ki Memories self adhesive metal accents, Light Mink Seam Binding, WOC Roses.  Button, metal corner and metal sentiment from stash.  Hemptique metal accents twine.

Get those gears in motion, and be sure to join us at the Corrosive Challenge for a chance at an awesome prize from a fabulous sponsor!

Challenge #180 - It's Only A Number AND an 80's to the Max Birthday Blog Hop

Like, oh my god!  We have, like, a totally bitchin' new challenge this week at The Corrosive Challenge!  It's Regan's 40th birthday this week and to celebrate we have teamed up with sponsor Sassy Studio Designs to bring you a totally awesome, 80's to the Max, birthday blog hop!  There are LOTS of ways to win!

Our challenge this fortnight is a birthday one with a twist: "It's Only A  Number" - create a birthday themed project which includes a number on it.  EVERYONE who enters will receive a special Sassy Studio Designs image for FREE!  If you use a SSD image you will receive a bonus entry for the grand prize!  Simply enter a second link to your general blog with your name and "SSD" after it!  Want another reason to play along?  Our Top 3 this fortnight will also win a prize!  Each Top Pick will receive two images from the new SSD 80's release!
I was totally psyched to be able to work with "Flashdance Sassy".  Who doesn't love this movie, and the "Maniac" song?  If it wasn't summertime, I probably would have donned my red knit legwarmers while I made my card (Yes, I really own legwarmers).

She is colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up with foam dots.  At first, I really wanted to incorporate sweatshirt somehow, then I started digging in my closets and found some old headbands and had an "aha!" moment.  So I cut one up and gave her a sweatband.  Totally tubular, dude!

I also wanted to try out something new (to me), and went with a step card, which I have never done before, but will definitely do again!  My numbers are incorporated in my paper, and though it isn't specifically birthday related per se, I do think I'll have to pass this along to our honoree, Regan for her birthday!  She may not be a maniac on the dance floor anymore (except maybe at a Bon Jovi concert), but she sure is a crazy crafter sometimes!

Lindsay, the owner and artist behind Sassy Studio Designs, has created a whole collection of 80's themed images as her August release just for this occasion!  These images are so much fun and will bring you right back to the decade of distinctive pop culture, music, and trends!  The winner of our challenge this fortnight will win the ENTIRE SSD 80's COLLECTION!!!  (Can't wait to win them?  You can purchase them HERE now!)  To see all the gorgeous images being featured by our two righteous design teams, please join us for Regan's birthday blog hop!  The Sassy and Corrosive dudes and dudettes have designed some most excellent projects for you!  A random comment will be selected from each blog to win that featured image!  The more blogs you visit and comment on, the more chances to win you have!  Here is the complete list:

Corrosive Challenge #179 - Fancy Folds

I'm melllllltinnnggg, mellllttttinnnggg!  OK, not really but this heat does make one feel a bit like a wicked witch whose had a bucket of water thrown on her, LOL.  At least the end should be near and the temperature should be getting a little more comfortable.

Over at the Corrosive Challenge, we are pleased to welcome back Mayzy Art as our sponsor this fortnight.  Mayzy is offering up a $15 GV to the MayzyArt Store as a prize to our winner!

The new challenge is "Fancy Folds", you must make a project with more than one fold.  I'm still not all that brave about trying new techniques, so I went with a good ole' twisted easel card, using Trapeze Artist.

She is colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up with foam dots.  I used a Labels 8 Spellbinder die cut in the background, then a doily in front.

I usually kind of keep things relatively simple, but I wanted to add lots of embellies to this one, I also just "winged" it instead of using a sketch.  It always takes me longer when I do that but, I am pleased with the result.

Papers:  Recollections - Bright Plaid Dots, Bright Plaid.
Embellies:  Recollections Paper Butterflies, flower, pearls and clothespin.  WOC roses and seam binding, Wilton 4" white doily, Tim Holtz adage ticket.

That's all folks, hope to see some fabulous entries over at The Corrosive Challenge !

Stay cool :-)

Corrosive Challenge # 178 - Shape Up!

Happy Sunday blogland!  I don't know about anyone else, but here in MA it has been H-O-T!  I'm talking sweating the second you get out of the shower, melty, sticky HOT.  But I guess we can't complain too much, because not too far away we'll be commiserating about the cold.  Sigh.  Thankfully we actually have a relatively small house that 3 window air conditioners can make feel like a cool respite, and make it better for crafting.

We have a new challenge this week at The Corrosive Challenge, and The Corrosive team is always pleased to welcome back a fabulous sponsor, Simply B Stamps!

Owner, Betty has generously offered our winner a $15 gift voucher to her online shop!  You can find all her fun and funky images HERE!  Whether you love digis, rubber, or clear stamps, Betty has an eclectic mix that's sure to please the "quirk in you"!

The challenge for this fortnight is to "Shape Up".  No, we don't want you to go on a diet or start working out!  It just means no square or rectangular cards.  FAR easier than getting in actual shape, right?!

I really outdid myself and did a shaped Easel card!  Whoah!  LOL.  (this is actually the first shaped card I have done)  Image is Water Fun Rio I just love all the Teen Scene Summertime digis, they are so much fun!

I really like how relatively simple these are, you don't have to get too crazy with multiple papers or embellies, but because it is shaped it keeps it from being boring.

Looking forward to some down time today with no where to go for a change.  And part of my day I hope to spend looking at some fantastic "outside the box" entries in the new challenge!

Thanks for stopping by.

KetchUp!

Three tomatoes are walkin' down the street.
Papa Tomato, Mama Tomato and Baby Tomato.
Baby Tomato starts lagging behind, and Papa Tomato gets really angry.
Goes back and squishes him and says: "Ketchup."

Well, I feel like it's been forever since I actually posted.  Springtime and early summer signal the start of busy busy days for my family.  Between Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays and random BBQ's in between, we are booked almost every weekend!

Despite a busy schedule I HAVE actually been making some cards along the way, so I thought I'd just do a MEGA post of recent cards, in no particular order...

The Hubby's Birthday Card-

Corrosive Challenge #175 - I've Been Framed

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  I hope everyone is enjoying some fun and BBQ's with family and friends.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided to be pretty uncooperative but the fam and I have still had some fun at different parties.
The Corrosive Challenge is excited to welcome back a fun and quirky sponsor Dilly Beans.  The challenge this time around is to create a project that incorporates a frame.  Megan has lots of framed versions of her cute, creepy (and sometimes both!) images.

Megan generously gave the team several images to choose from, I went with Ginger Framed isn't she ADORABLE?!
She is colored with Copics, with some glossy accents added to her eyes, lips and hearts.  I used a glitter pen on her collar.  All supplies were from stash, and the sketch was #203 from The Sweet Stop

Frame up your favorite images and play along with us!  Hopefully we'll at least get a break from all the rain on Monday.

Thanks for stopping in!
