Corrosive Challenge 173 - Mother's Day

Hello there!  Well, it seems like spring may have finally decided to join us here in Mass.  The daffodils are in bloom, and you can see all the trees just ready to be green again.  It has been a sad, scary, emotional, and hopeful couple weeks all rolled together.  While the bombing at the Marathon was absolutely horrific and tragic, the way the city and the world as a whole has come together, and the outpouring of love, comfort and support is just amazing to watch.  It is a good reminder that there is still so much GOOD in the world even in the face of evil.  I think we all breathed a collective sigh of relief when the suspect was finally in custody, and now we just have to let things take their course.  My thoughts are with all the people recovering and trying to move forward, as well as with the people in West, Texas.

Since May is right around the corner, the challenge this week is to create a project for Mother's Day (or for a special lady).  We are very pleased to welcome a brand new sponsor for this one:

All That Scraps is a warm fuzzy place to indulge your passion for scrappin.  They have a lot of different products, and a TON of digi images to choose from, so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time for browsing!
They offered the DT one image of their choice, I went with the ADORABLE Mashi's Muffins Fan Digi Image.  Isn't she the cutest?  I've always loved Asian styled things, and I knew I already had things on hand in my stash to with her.
She is colored with Copics, with glossy accents added to her eyes, and I actually added white gel pen accents on top of the glossy accent, which came out pretty cool.  She is fussy cut and popped up with foam squares.

Sketch was The Sweet Stop # 206, I love this one.  Too late to enter as usual!

Papers:  Recollections "Drink Umbrellas", Stampin' Up Cardstock

Embellies:  Martha Stewart "Tropical Lantern Stickers", WOC Cherry Blossoms, Recollections flowers, Ribbon and pearls from stash.

That's about it!  Thanks so much for dropping by, and be sure to enter, you could win 3 digis from  All That Scraps for yourself!

Boston Strong!

Springtime

Howdy!  I am super excited to be able to enter Saturated Canary Challenge # 42 All Things Bright and Beautiful.  There is some seriously amazing inspiration from the Design Team.
This is a card I made for my grandmother, using the gorgeous digi image Springtime.  She is colored with Copics, and I added clouds in the background by inking around a cloud shape made from cardstock.  I added glossy accents to her eyes to really make them stand out.  I wanted the card to be really bright and cheerful and springy.  Springtime is coming very slowly this year to Massachusetts, the cold just doesn't want to go away.

Papers:  Recollections "Bloom", and cardstock from stash.

Embellies:  Tim Holtz Addage Ticket, Recollections Clothespin & floral stickers, K&Co mini ornaments and "In The Garden" dimensional dragonfly sticker.  Offray microspool self-adhesive ribbon.

Hopefully the warmth and blooms of spring will be coming soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

Corrosive Challenge 172 - Life's Special Moments

Although it's a little cloudy and rainy, it seems like spring might finally have decided to grace us New Englanders with it's presence.  I have lots of flowers coming up in the yard, some sweet little mini daffodils are in bloom, and there are tulips and hyacinth not that far behind.
Another month means it's time for another new challenge over at The Corrosive Challenge.  I was super happy that our sponsor this week is A Day For Daisies.  They were one of the first stamp companies I discovered and I am as much of a fan today as I was then.  Our new challenge is "Life's Special Occasions" - create a project for any of life's special moments (baby, birthday, wedding, graduation, etc). There are many fantastic A Day For Daisies images that are perfect for playing along.

I chose the lovely Beautiful Pixie.  This card is for my mom for Mother's Day, she colored this image once during a visit, so I knew she liked it.
She is colored with Copics, with lots of stickles and glitter applied to her wings and flowers.  I made a stick pin to add a little more interest, and added some paper roses, and pearl and green stick gems, and Stampin' Up ribbon.

Papers from stash, Echo Park This and That "Flower Vine", Bazzill Basics Two Scoops "Mint Chip".

I know everyone always has some sort of special occasion to celebrate, so stop on by The Corrosive Challenge for a chance at the prize from ADFD.

Thanks for stopping by.
