Orchid Best Wishes

This card was a request from my mother for a friend of hers going through a rough patch.  I was happy to oblige (but sad for her friend).  I am so used to using images of people that it took awhile to settle on something.  After several tries, we finally decided on Orchids.  My mom lives in Florida and has many orchids, they are so beautiful.  She enjoys taking pictures of them and sending them to me so I can see them in bloom.  I love orchids, but have terrible luck keeping them alive in the Massachusetts climate.  One of the cards my mom had found online featured a technique of cutting out some of the petals and popping them up a bit to give the flowers some dimension, so I gave it a shot, and am happy with the result, here's a closeup:

The image was a freebie from Beccy's Place.  Colored with Copics, and cut using an oval Spellbinder die cut.  I used a little Tim Holtz distress ink to sponge around the image to give it a little more depth.  I hope her friend will like the card, and that she is able to recover from several ailments.  It really stinks when bad things happen to good people.  Onto the details:
Papers:  Basic Grey - Sultry/Stylish, and Sultry/Posh (bought on sale @ Michaels recently)
Embellishments:  Jolee's Boutique Colorful Orchids stickers (a gift from my mom!), brass oriental brads - from Michaels, Darice, Inc self-stick gems, "Earth" colors (from Jo-Ann), Studio G yellow glitter glue on the flowers, ribbon from stash, and a corner punch used to round off the edges.

Very happy it's Friday, some weeks just seem to drag on a bit, and this is definitely one of them!  Hope everyone has a great weekend, and be sure to come back on Sunday for the next Corrosive Challenge with a fantastic new sponsor and new challenge to try.
