Corrosive Challenge - Something Wicked

Good morning.  Time for another fun challenge at The Corrosive Challenge Blog!  I know it's not quite October yet, but I'd say it's close enough to begin celebrating one of my favorite holidays...Halloween!  Wahoo!  This month we are lucky enough to welcome back an amazing Sponsor, Sassy Studio Designs.  There are some awesome new Disney Villain and Halloween releases available right now that would be perfect for our challenge:  "Something Wicked This Way Comes".  We want to see a villain or monster on your project.  I decided to work with Betty Bolts and Baxter from Simply Betty Stamps.  OK, so maybe they aren't exactly the scariest creatures on the block, but technically they are monsters.

Betty and Baxter are colored with Copics, and I added glossy accents to their eyes.  I sponged a little purple chalks ink around the image (I have a hard time leaving large white areas!).  Sketch was #116 at Sketchy Colors.
Papers:  Cloud 9 Design - Halloween papers from 12X12 pad, DCWV - Rockstar Mat Stack.
Embellies:  K&C Company - BW Haunted World Grand Adhesions sticker, Ribbon & Brads from stash, Queen + Co - Grass Green pearls.

My husband and I REALLY like Halloween, so we are always pretty excited when October rolls around.  We have a whole Halloween Village set up inside the house (the Lemax one at Michaels), and we love to carve pumpkins for the big night.  We usually try to come up with some sort of theme.  This year we've come up with possibly Breaking Bad or Dexter themes displays, but I am definitely open to suggetions if anyone has any, please leave them in the comments :-)

Looking forward to some wickedly awesome projects at The Corrosive Challenge Blog.  Come and join the fun!

Yoga Girl

Welcome back folks.  Now that I am finally done making wedding cards for awhile, the next month is FULL of birthdays (6 total!).  The first one in the lineup is my neighbor and friend.  She is a very busy, hardworking mama to 3 littles (as she calls them) - 2 twin boys who are turning 4 soon, and a little girl who is just over a year old.  She is a really awesome lady, and we have tons of fun together.  On top of working and taking care of 3 kids, she tries hard to make time to get in shape, and she loves taking Yoga classes.  I knew Yoga Girl from Saturated Canary would be perfect for her card.  I just love Krista's whimsical and adorable images.  And I am totally jealous of those Abs!

She is colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up on foam dots.  One thing I was pretty excited to be able to incorporate is some birch bark that my dad found for me in his yard.  The strip behind her feet, and the curly Q's are the bark.  Sketch was #224 over at Sketch Saturday.  This was a great one, I used it for several cards.

Papers:  Cloud 9 Design - Cinnamon Stick 12X12 Pad, cardstock from stash.
Embellies:  WOC flower (free gift with purchase!), with a Prima flower inside it.  EK success border punch, Epoxy brad from stash, Hemptique - Metallic Classic crafters cord.

I'm hoping to get together with my friend this weekend but we'll see, we tend to make plans then they just don't work out or we're too tired!  But we still love each other anyways, lol.  Wishing her a very Happy Birthday.  Be sure to check back this weekend too, there is a new Corrosive Challenge starting Sunday!

I will be entering challenge #26 at Saturated Canary Challenge - B's.  My B's are Birch Bark, Bow, Butterfly, and Blue.

Kenny K Wedding

Yes, folks, ANOTHER wedding card for this month!  This one I am actually going to, and I am really looking forward to it.  It is a super fun couple, and the bride has been dropping hints about secret surprises that are going to happen.  Can't wait to find out what they are!  I know for sure there will be lots of dancing and probably a few cocktails to be had (I sometimes have a little too much fun at weddings...).  My son is having a sleepover at his Auntie's until about 10:00 on Sunday.  Is it wrong that I am almost as excited about sleeping in as I am for the wedding?  LOL.

 A Closeup:

My image is Lil' Angel and Devil available at Kenny K Downloads.  I looked at a TON off different wedding-y stamps, but nothing was really clicking, then I saw this one.  The bride and groom actually look a little like these cuties, and as I mentioned, they are a really fun loving couple so I wanted to go with something non-traditional.  As usual, they are colored with Copics, with a very generous application of stickles on the wings.  I added glossy accents to the eyes.  I think I started off with a sketch bu veered pretty far off course.  It happens.

Papers:  Stampin' Up valentine paper from 2010 I think.  Recollections - "Clouds"
Embellies:  Home Inspirations feathers, WOC and Prima flowers, small heart brads, ribbon and gems from stash.
Challenge Entries:
Dream Valley Challenges - CELEBRATIONS
The Squirrel and the Fox - Celebrate the Occasion
2 Sisters Challenge Blog - Things with Wings + Add Glitter

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Baby Boy

Happy hump day!  Just a quick card to share today.  Recently a friend and ex-coworker and his wife had a baby boy, so I wanted to send a little something.  My image is called Baby and Bunny available at Mo's Digital Pencil.  I have used it before for a girl's card, but figured it could be used for a boy too.  The funniest part is the baby has a very similar FULL, full head of black hair.  He is super duper cute.  The image is colored with Copics and I added glossy accents to the eyes of the baby and the bunny.  I also colored the stitching on the little star with copics to make it pop a little and match everything.

Sketch is #225 at Sketch Saturday.  I love this blog for sketches!  They pretty much rock.

Papers:  Echo Park Paper, "A Boy's Life" - Suave
Embellies:  Pebbles - Layered Embellishments, Cloud.  KI Memories - Puffies "Stars White".  Ribbon from stash, Queen & Co silver pearls.

And that's all she wrote.  Hope everyone is having a great week.  I am glad the crazy weather from yesterday is gone, I think it was definitely making people a bit bonkers.  My son was a BEAR all day, and then I stayed up far too late making a card, then decided to decorate for Halloween a little around 10:45 pm.  SMH.  Early bedtime tonight!

Animal Companions

Good morning again.  This fortnight brings a fantastic new challenge and sponsor for The Corrosive Challenge Blog.  We are lucky to have be able work with images created by Teri at Delicious Doodles for the month of September.  The theme of our challenge this time around is "Animal Companions", so your creation must include an image that features an animal.  Teri has lots of fabulous images with animals, from ferocious to precious.  Be sure to check out her shop.
My Aunt had asked me to make a wedding card for my cousin's wedding, so when I saw Lovey-Dovey Silhouette I knew it was just perfect.  I had recently been in Newburyport with my Aunt, and there was a store that sold a lot of beautiful and unique cards, and one of them had a sentiment that we both loved so I "borrowed" it for my card.  The front says:  "And the song from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend."  The inside says "As your song begins...best wishes to you on your wedding day."  I just thought this was such a sweet saying.  Here is a little different view:
This is much simpler than I am used to making, but I do like how it came out.  I simply cut the image out using a Lacy Circles Spellbinder, then sponged a little blue ink on the edges, and popped it up with foam dots.  I just winged the layout for a change, and made sure to incorporate all the different elements I had in mind.

Papers:  G.C.D. Studios - Sophisticated Frost paper stack, purchased at Big Lots
Embellies:  The Paper Company - Filigree Accents, Martha Stewart - Doily Lace Fabric brads.  Hemptique "Metallic Classic" Crafter's Cord.  (Both the brads and hemp twine I found at TJ Maxx for a great price.  I am pretty excited to know they carry some card making supplies now, I love me some shopping, and TJ's is one of my favorite places to shop.)

That's all for now.  I do hope you will play along with us at The Corrosive Challenge Blog for a chance to win a fabulous prize from Delicious Doodles.  Looking forward to seeing lots of interesting creature creations!

Wedding Blessings

September has been a very busy month for cards!  (And it's not even 1/2 way over yet)  My cousin is getting married next weekend and I was commissioned by my grandmother to make a card for her to give to my cousin.  Of course, I was happy to oblige.  It's so funny, some cards haunt me and take forever but some are almost effortless and this was one of them.  I had picked out the flower image that was a freebie from Create with TLC.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it though.  I went home and searched through my paper stash and found this sheet that had the exact same flowers on it!  Because of the way the pattern fell on the paper, I just winged the layout, and found a few more embellies that were in my stash and kept it relatively simple.  The flower I printed is colored with Copics, and I added some Copper Tim Holtz Stickles to the centers.  I cut them and popped them up with 3d dots to give some dimension.  Here is another view:

I really am so pleased how this came out (if I do say so myself!).  Haha.

Papers:  Prima Marketing - "Reflections" collection
Embellies:  Making Memories - "Vintage Metal Combo" charm, Recollections pearl swirl, Brads from stash, Hemptique crafter's cord - "metallic classic" (I love this stuff), Darice self stick gems (in the middles of some of the flowers)

I would like to enter into the following challenges:

Kaboodle Doodles - #136 Flowers
Make My Monday - Vintage Wedding
The Pink Elephant - 165 Wedding/Anniversary

Thanks for taking a peek!

Fall Into Fun!

Fall is DEFINITELY in the air lately.  The days are still nice and sunny but it's getting downright c-c-c-cold at night!  It went down into the 40's last night where I live.  Brrrrr.  This fall is my son's first time going to school.  Eeek!  He will be 5 in October so he is just now starting pre-school, but it is at the same school where he will be in kindergarten.  He was a little scared at first, but once he got to his classroom, and the teacher started reading a story, he didn't even remember I was in the room!  I was a bit weepy all day, but I am a proud momma and I know this will be a wonderful experience for him.  He actually has two teachers in the classroom, and I wanted to make a card for each of them for the start of the school year.

My first card features a digi stamp from Simply Betty Stamps called Oscar Pile of Leaves, he is part of her line of Jude and the Rockers.  This guy really reminded me of my son, I could totally see him taking a flying leap like this!  Oscar is colored with Copics with glossy accents added to his eyes, the leaves are cut out and popped up, and the background is sponged with Cloudy Blue and Spanish Olive inks.  The sketch is the September sketch over at I Heart 2 Stamp:

Papers:  My Mind's Eye 6X6 stack "All Spice", Cloud 9 Design - "Harvest" Luster Papers
Embellies:  Jolee's Boutique dimensional stickers, "Felt Acorns"

My 2nd card is another Simply Betty Stamps called Brittany Bundled Up.  Isn't she just the cutest?  She is also colored with Copics with glossy accents added to her eyes, and fussy cut and popped up.  Sketch # 224 at Sketch Saturday
Papers:  Cloud 9 Design - "Harvest" Luster Papers
Embellies:  Recollections floral embellishments, Brads and ribbon from stash, Memory Box "Fauntleroy Crest" die.

Now I just have to figure out which teacher to give each card to!  I'm sure I will agonize over the decision, because that's what I do!  LOL.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far.  While I DREAD the winter, I do enjoy the fall, and we especially look forward to Halloween, our favorite holiday!  Happy Fall Ya'll!

I would also like to enter into the following Challenges:
Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Fall Inspiration
Kenny K's Kraft Krew - #110 Autumn Hues
Simply Challenged Challenges - Fall / School Inspired

Corrosive Challenge # 157 - Myth and Magic

Goooood Morning again.  I hope you're hungry...but not for food!  A new month always means a new sponsor at The Corrosive Challenge Blog, and this one is tasty!  Our fantastic new sponsor is Delicious Doodles .  All the images are hand or mouse drawn by the artist and owner, Teri.  Some are cutsie animals, some are sketched flowers, there are a few men's images, fairies and also some 'darker' images featuring vampires, skulls and Gothic stuff, something for everyone!

Our challenge for you is to create a mythical or magical themed project. Many of Teri's awesome images are perfect for this task! Fairies, dragons, witches and wizards, we want to see it all! The winner will receive FOUR digi's of their choice from the Delicious Doodles Shop!

My 7th anniversary is Sept 3rd!  We have been together closer to 11 years, and were married in 2005.  We are pretty busy with work, kids and school, and probably don't get as much romantical time in as we should, but we do try, and always have fun even if it's just movie night on the couch.  Recently my hubby went back to school, so a lot of nights he is busy on the computer doing homework while I'm at my crafting table in the same room.  Many times I bother him for an opinion when I start second guessing myself, and he's always happy to help, bless his heart!  At least we are still spending time together even though we're doing separate things.  He is a wonderful husband, and father and I really couldn't imagine my life without him.
I knew I wanted something special and a little sexy for his anniversary card, and went with Fire Woman, she is one red hot mamasita.

She is colored with Copics, with generous amounts of stickles added to the flames and dress, and glossy accents added to her eyes.  The sentiment was computer generated, I wanted to let him know he still "lights my fire" even though life gets in the way of umm..."grownup only" time sometimes.  I hope he likes the end result, I usually tend to go with cute and sexy cards for him, and this one is a little darker.
