Cute As a Button

Good morning all!  Time for another fun Corrosive Challenge, and don't worry, no actual sewing required.  Our wonderful sponsor for the month is Saturated Canary these images are SO stinkin' adorable, one could say they are "cute as a button", so we want to see some buttons on your project.  I needed a birthday card for a younger girl, so decided to use this freebie that Krista had offered on her blog http://saturatedcanary.blogspot.com/.  She is such an amazing artist, and has some awesome stuff on her blog, be sure to check it out.  I love her stamps, and her funky style.
I colored the digi with Copics, and added a few touches of white Gelly Roll pen and glitter pen.  You can't really tell in the picture, but the image and the paper she is mounted on are popped up with foam squares, gotta add that dimension in there.
Sketch was #56 from My Time Made Easy :
Papers:  My Mind's Eye - Lime Twist Collection, Happy Go Lucky "Cute" Buttons (perfect, right!), Bazzill Basics - Two Scoops "Mint Chip", the notbook looking paper was part of a mini kit that was on sale at Michaels for 99 cents!  And cardstock from stash.
Embellies:  Recollections Floral Embellishment (the daisy), and roses.  Genevieve Gail Felt Sticker, Boho Collection "Flower".  Buttons from stash.  Recollections Rhinestone stickers pearl swirl.

Be sure to stop by The Corrosive Challenge Blog to see what the design team has come up with.  Hope you are inspired to play along, I know Krista's Saturated Canary images are hugely popular, so you should enter for your chance to snag a few more!  Looking forward to some super cute projects.

Thanks for taking a peek.

Fairy Birthday

This was a very special card for me to make.  It was made for my Mother for her birthday.  She is the sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful woman I know, and she is an amazing mother, and Grandmother to my son, we are so so lucky to have her.  She lives in Florida, and I'm in Massachusetts, and sometimes, well to be totally honest it really stinks!  We miss each other a lot though we try to stay in touch via e-mail and on the phone.  We try to visit each other at least a couple times a year, and I was so happy and excited to have her come visit during her birthday week this year!  We had a busy, and fun visit full of good food, shopping (our favorite!), and visits with her other family that are still here in MA as well.  It's always a little bittersweet though because we miss each other all the more when we leave :-(
As for the card, my Mom had gotten me these pretty lantern stickers as a gift, and I had not been able to use them yet, so I wanted to be able to incorporate one somehow.  I found this lovely fairy Twilight Lily Fae at Crafts and Me.  They have some beautiful products.  I saw she was holding a lantern, so I knew she was perfect.  She is colored with Copics, with yellow stickles added to her wings.  I sponged around the image with yellow and orange ink.  Since I didn't have to mail this one, I knew I could just overload it with flowers, so I went a little crazy, but I love the result.  I'm pretty sure my mom liked it too, and I am so grateful to be able to have been able to present it to her in person.
Sketch is an older one from The Sweet Stop # 138

Papers:  Basic Grey - Plumeria, "Budding Lavendar" and "Graceful Vine".
Embellishments:  W.O.C. and Recollections flowers, Brads from stash, Recollections stick pin, Martha Stewart "Tropical Lantern" stickers, Ribbon from Michaels, Recollections pearls (in her hair).

Challenges:
Party Time Tuesdays - #81 Garden Delights

Tammy's Scrappin Corner - Add some flowers
Stampalot Challenge - Take Flight

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Give your mums a hug!

They Say It's Your Birthday!

Holy moly, can you believe is is AUGUST already?!  Summer is almost over, sniffle sniffle.  It's so cliche, but where does the time GO?  Seriously.  Well, at least there are some things to look forward to as the summer winds down, one of them being a fabulous new sponsor at The Corrosive Challenge Blog!  This month we are so very lucky to be sponsored by Saturated Canary.  Owner Krista Smith's images are super adorable, and she is always adding new ones to her shop.  We are also celebrating our fearless leader Regan's birthday this month.  So in honor of Miss Regan, and all the other Leo's out there, the challenge this fortnight is to make a birthday card.  Easy, right?  This may ruin the surprise a little, but I decided to make this one for Regan.  Since I have dubbed her "Queen of Embellishments", I threw all caution to the wind and just went crazy (for me) with embellies.  I started out with Usherette from the Saturated Canary shop.  (I just realized as I am writing this that the whole reason I picked this image was because I had popcorn paper, and forgot to use it!  LOL).  She is colored with Copics.  The filmstrip behind her was found just with a Google search, and I added glossy accents to the black part to give it more dimension.  Both the filmstrip and Usherette are popped up with 3D Dots.  It's hard to see but I used some red netting at the bottom of the filmstrip, and made a flower using the scraps (over on the left there).  This was a ton of fun to make, and I hope it is worthy of the Queen ;-)

Papers:  Recollections (background and polka dots), DCWV Lady Couture Stack (red stripes), and Rockstar Stack (the stars).
Embellies:  Recollections + WOC Roses, Recollections brads, Ribbon and rhinestone swirls.  Queen + Co pearls.  Simplicity Christmas trim.  Tim Holtz idea-ology Adage Ticket.

Sketch was an older one from Tickled Pink Challenges:
My mother's birthday is the same day as Regan's, and my Aunt's was August 1st so I have been a busy crafter!  I'm sure you all know someone who is celebrating their birth soon, be sure to join in the fun for a chance to win some Saturated Canary digis to play with.  Be sure to check out the rest of the team's fantabulous creations over at The Corrosive Challenge.

Happy Birthday!

Dilly Beans - Pink & Orange

I was super excited to have both an occasion and a challenge to use a newly acquired Dilly Beans image for.  My Aunt's birthday is just around the corner, and we'll be having a little get together with her and my mom who will be up visiting from Florida (yay!) it's her Birthday in August too!  I have been wanting to use this adorable mermaid since I got her (I have a thing for mermaids).  I saw that the challenge over at Dilly Beans Challenge Blog was Pink and Orange, definitely not a color combo I would have thought of for this but I thought I would give it a go!  This is my first foray coloring hair something other than "natural" colors, and I love the way it turned out.  This is a super fun color combo, and was a ton of fun to make.
Mermaid is colored with Copics, with glitter pen and glossy accents added to her eyes, a few highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen, and some eucalyptus stickles added to her tail.
Sketch came from #212 Sketch Saturday

Papers:  Recollections "Cupcake Cuties" cardstock
Embellies:  Genevieve Gail Felt Stickers Boho Collection "Flowers", Making Memories Trims - Animal Crackers/Jack, Darice Gems "Earth".
That's about all, folks.  Almost the weekend, just a few more days to get through.  Now off to bed with me before I turn into a pumpkin!  (or just a crankypants).  G'Nite!

Cousin Party

This past weekend the fam and I went to a pool party that was also a birthday part for all 10 of the younger cousins in my Hubby's family.  Like an insane person, I decided I needed to make cards for them all (except for my kids, and my niece who I already made one for in May).  One of them was my Surf's Up card featured in a previous post.  Another will be coming at the end of August, as I made it in conjunction with a Corrosive Challenge that I don't want to give away yet.  These are the remaining ones I did, all for kids aged around 3-5 so I kept them pretty simple.  Definitely not my finest work I suppose but I was happy I did them,  and they seemed well received.

For Bubba, age 3

 For Nick, age 4

For Audrey, age 3?  (I start to lose track!)

 For Giulio, Age 5

It was a ton of fun seeing all the kids together, they had a blast.  My husband's family is very close, and they try to get together fairly often.  It's very nice, and I think the kids will all treasure the times together as they get older.
I'm far too lazy to post all the details!  But if anyone really needed to know something just ask :-)  I do know all the images were freebies I have collected at some point.
Hope every one's Monday is as good as a Monday can be!

Corrosive Challenge # 154 - Cheeky, Saucy, Sassy

This week at the Corrosive Challenge we are looking for your cheeky, saucy and sassy creations. Our sponsor this month is Graphicat Designs, who offer a wide range of stamps, digis, embellies and papers. Some of their sentiments are just absolutely hysterical, and are definitely cheeky, saucy and sassy!  I decided to come up with my own for this card for my hubby. It's a very hockey-themed month for me, LOL.  My husband is a huge hockey fan, and also enjoys getting on the ice when he can. His dad plays as well (he's a goalie), and his sister is a figure skater and coach. I think skating must just run in his family's blood!
The image is Hockey Girl from Kenny K . I love how she's cute and tough all at once. She is colored with Copics. Sketch is #53 from Sketches By Carly, she is only 13! What an amazing talent at such a young age. The layout was always the hardest part of a card for me until I discovered sketches.
Hockey Girl is popped up with foam squares, and the paper behind her I embossed with "Stars" embossing folder by Cuttlebug, and sponged it a little with Studio G white ink.

Papers: The striped paper is from the Tahiti Beach Stack by Premium Stacks (snagged at Big Lots), the Hockey paper is by Me & My Big Ideas
Embellies: Making Memories Badge Brads "Just Chillin", ribbon is Making Memories Animal Crackers "Jack", Queen & Co black pearls.

Really looking forward to some fun, and funny projects for this one, come on over and join us at The Corrosive Challenge, and if you need any help getting your sass on, definitely check out our sponsor graphicatstamps.com for some ideas.  They also have another fabulous sketch for their new challenge.  I didn't use it only because my two July cards were prepared in advance so I could get ahead a little, but you should definitely play along with the Graphicat Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by.

Surf's Up!

Good morning peeps!  Hope everyone is well and staying cool, it has been hot hot hot here in Mass lately.  They are saying the heat may break today after some thunderstorms (which I hate, somewhere along the way I have developed a totally irrational fear of lightning).  I am lucky enough to work in a nice air conditioned office, but we have some employees that are out there working in the heat.  Poor guys!  We do buy them some cold drinks, and ice cream sandwiches for a treat on hot days like we have been having.
This card is for my Hubby's, cousin's son (did you follow that one?  LOL)  Lifeguard Christian was part of a Limited Release at Simply Betty Stamps that I was lucky to snag.  He's not available anymore at the moment, but there are TONS of awesome images to pick from!  I saw that the new challenge over at Simply Challenged Challenges is Summer Fun, so this was perfect.  I started out with Sketch # 108 at Stamps & Fun = Creativity.
I veered off course a little with it, but it was a good starting point.  Christian is colored with Copics, and I popped the panel up with foam squares.  He looks a lot like the recipient, he is a cutie pie.  Ribbon and brads both from stash.
Papers:  My Mind's Eye - Blue Waves and Creative Imaginations - Signature collection
I'm so glad I was finally able to use a Simply Betty digi, I have quite a few now but just haven't had a chance to use them.
Challenges:
My Time to Craft  - Make it Wet
Oozak - Bright Colors
Really Reasonable Ribbon - Sizzlin' Summer Colors and Ribbon

Thanks so much for stopping by, and hope everyone is having an amazing summer so far!
