Animal Companions

Good morning again.  This fortnight brings a fantastic new challenge and sponsor for The Corrosive Challenge Blog.  We are lucky to have be able work with images created by Teri at Delicious Doodles for the month of September.  The theme of our challenge this time around is "Animal Companions", so your creation must include an image that features an animal.  Teri has lots of fabulous images with animals, from ferocious to precious.  Be sure to check out her shop.
My Aunt had asked me to make a wedding card for my cousin's wedding, so when I saw Lovey-Dovey Silhouette I knew it was just perfect.  I had recently been in Newburyport with my Aunt, and there was a store that sold a lot of beautiful and unique cards, and one of them had a sentiment that we both loved so I "borrowed" it for my card.  The front says:  "And the song from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend."  The inside says "As your song begins...best wishes to you on your wedding day."  I just thought this was such a sweet saying.  Here is a little different view:
This is much simpler than I am used to making, but I do like how it came out.  I simply cut the image out using a Lacy Circles Spellbinder, then sponged a little blue ink on the edges, and popped it up with foam dots.  I just winged the layout for a change, and made sure to incorporate all the different elements I had in mind.

Papers:  G.C.D. Studios - Sophisticated Frost paper stack, purchased at Big Lots
Embellies:  The Paper Company - Filigree Accents, Martha Stewart - Doily Lace Fabric brads.  Hemptique "Metallic Classic" Crafter's Cord.  (Both the brads and hemp twine I found at TJ Maxx for a great price.  I am pretty excited to know they carry some card making supplies now, I love me some shopping, and TJ's is one of my favorite places to shop.)

That's all for now.  I do hope you will play along with us at The Corrosive Challenge Blog for a chance to win a fabulous prize from Delicious Doodles.  Looking forward to seeing lots of interesting creature creations!

Wedding Blessings

September has been a very busy month for cards!  (And it's not even 1/2 way over yet)  My cousin is getting married next weekend and I was commissioned by my grandmother to make a card for her to give to my cousin.  Of course, I was happy to oblige.  It's so funny, some cards haunt me and take forever but some are almost effortless and this was one of them.  I had picked out the flower image that was a freebie from Create with TLC.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it though.  I went home and searched through my paper stash and found this sheet that had the exact same flowers on it!  Because of the way the pattern fell on the paper, I just winged the layout, and found a few more embellies that were in my stash and kept it relatively simple.  The flower I printed is colored with Copics, and I added some Copper Tim Holtz Stickles to the centers.  I cut them and popped them up with 3d dots to give some dimension.  Here is another view:

I really am so pleased how this came out (if I do say so myself!).  Haha.

Papers:  Prima Marketing - "Reflections" collection
Embellies:  Making Memories - "Vintage Metal Combo" charm, Recollections pearl swirl, Brads from stash, Hemptique crafter's cord - "metallic classic" (I love this stuff), Darice self stick gems (in the middles of some of the flowers)

I would like to enter into the following challenges:

Kaboodle Doodles - #136 Flowers
Make My Monday - Vintage Wedding
The Pink Elephant - 165 Wedding/Anniversary

Thanks for taking a peek!

Fall Into Fun!

Fall is DEFINITELY in the air lately.  The days are still nice and sunny but it's getting downright c-c-c-cold at night!  It went down into the 40's last night where I live.  Brrrrr.  This fall is my son's first time going to school.  Eeek!  He will be 5 in October so he is just now starting pre-school, but it is at the same school where he will be in kindergarten.  He was a little scared at first, but once he got to his classroom, and the teacher started reading a story, he didn't even remember I was in the room!  I was a bit weepy all day, but I am a proud momma and I know this will be a wonderful experience for him.  He actually has two teachers in the classroom, and I wanted to make a card for each of them for the start of the school year.

My first card features a digi stamp from Simply Betty Stamps called Oscar Pile of Leaves, he is part of her line of Jude and the Rockers.  This guy really reminded me of my son, I could totally see him taking a flying leap like this!  Oscar is colored with Copics with glossy accents added to his eyes, the leaves are cut out and popped up, and the background is sponged with Cloudy Blue and Spanish Olive inks.  The sketch is the September sketch over at I Heart 2 Stamp:

Papers:  My Mind's Eye 6X6 stack "All Spice", Cloud 9 Design - "Harvest" Luster Papers
Embellies:  Jolee's Boutique dimensional stickers, "Felt Acorns"

My 2nd card is another Simply Betty Stamps called Brittany Bundled Up.  Isn't she just the cutest?  She is also colored with Copics with glossy accents added to her eyes, and fussy cut and popped up.  Sketch # 224 at Sketch Saturday
Papers:  Cloud 9 Design - "Harvest" Luster Papers
Embellies:  Recollections floral embellishments, Brads and ribbon from stash, Memory Box "Fauntleroy Crest" die.

Now I just have to figure out which teacher to give each card to!  I'm sure I will agonize over the decision, because that's what I do!  LOL.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far.  While I DREAD the winter, I do enjoy the fall, and we especially look forward to Halloween, our favorite holiday!  Happy Fall Ya'll!

I would also like to enter into the following Challenges:
Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Fall Inspiration
Kenny K's Kraft Krew - #110 Autumn Hues

Corrosive Challenge # 157 - Myth and Magic

Goooood Morning again.  I hope you're hungry...but not for food!  A new month always means a new sponsor at The Corrosive Challenge Blog, and this one is tasty!  Our fantastic new sponsor is Delicious Doodles .  All the images are hand or mouse drawn by the artist and owner, Teri.  Some are cutsie animals, some are sketched flowers, there are a few men's images, fairies and also some 'darker' images featuring vampires, skulls and Gothic stuff, something for everyone!

Our challenge for you is to create a mythical or magical themed project. Many of Teri's awesome images are perfect for this task! Fairies, dragons, witches and wizards, we want to see it all! The winner will receive FOUR digi's of their choice from the Delicious Doodles Shop!

My 7th anniversary is Sept 3rd!  We have been together closer to 11 years, and were married in 2005.  We are pretty busy with work, kids and school, and probably don't get as much romantical time in as we should, but we do try, and always have fun even if it's just movie night on the couch.  Recently my hubby went back to school, so a lot of nights he is busy on the computer doing homework while I'm at my crafting table in the same room.  Many times I bother him for an opinion when I start second guessing myself, and he's always happy to help, bless his heart!  At least we are still spending time together even though we're doing separate things.  He is a wonderful husband, and father and I really couldn't imagine my life without him.
I knew I wanted something special and a little sexy for his anniversary card, and went with Fire Woman, she is one red hot mamasita.

She is colored with Copics, with generous amounts of stickles added to the flames and dress, and glossy accents added to her eyes.  The sentiment was computer generated, I wanted to let him know he still "lights my fire" even though life gets in the way of umm..."grownup only" time sometimes.  I hope he likes the end result, I usually tend to go with cute and sexy cards for him, and this one is a little darker.

Cute As a Button

Good morning all!  Time for another fun Corrosive Challenge, and don't worry, no actual sewing required.  Our wonderful sponsor for the month is Saturated Canary these images are SO stinkin' adorable, one could say they are "cute as a button", so we want to see some buttons on your project.  I needed a birthday card for a younger girl, so decided to use this freebie that Krista had offered on her blog http://saturatedcanary.blogspot.com/.  She is such an amazing artist, and has some awesome stuff on her blog, be sure to check it out.  I love her stamps, and her funky style.
I colored the digi with Copics, and added a few touches of white Gelly Roll pen and glitter pen.  You can't really tell in the picture, but the image and the paper she is mounted on are popped up with foam squares, gotta add that dimension in there.
Sketch was #56 from My Time Made Easy :
Papers:  My Mind's Eye - Lime Twist Collection, Happy Go Lucky "Cute" Buttons (perfect, right!), Bazzill Basics - Two Scoops "Mint Chip", the notbook looking paper was part of a mini kit that was on sale at Michaels for 99 cents!  And cardstock from stash.
Embellies:  Recollections Floral Embellishment (the daisy), and roses.  Genevieve Gail Felt Sticker, Boho Collection "Flower".  Buttons from stash.  Recollections Rhinestone stickers pearl swirl.

Be sure to stop by The Corrosive Challenge Blog to see what the design team has come up with.  Hope you are inspired to play along, I know Krista's Saturated Canary images are hugely popular, so you should enter for your chance to snag a few more!  Looking forward to some super cute projects.

Thanks for taking a peek.

Fairy Birthday

This was a very special card for me to make.  It was made for my Mother for her birthday.  She is the sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful woman I know, and she is an amazing mother, and Grandmother to my son, we are so so lucky to have her.  She lives in Florida, and I'm in Massachusetts, and sometimes, well to be totally honest it really stinks!  We miss each other a lot though we try to stay in touch via e-mail and on the phone.  We try to visit each other at least a couple times a year, and I was so happy and excited to have her come visit during her birthday week this year!  We had a busy, and fun visit full of good food, shopping (our favorite!), and visits with her other family that are still here in MA as well.  It's always a little bittersweet though because we miss each other all the more when we leave :-(
As for the card, my Mom had gotten me these pretty lantern stickers as a gift, and I had not been able to use them yet, so I wanted to be able to incorporate one somehow.  I found this lovely fairy Twilight Lily Fae at Crafts and Me.  They have some beautiful products.  I saw she was holding a lantern, so I knew she was perfect.  She is colored with Copics, with yellow stickles added to her wings.  I sponged around the image with yellow and orange ink.  Since I didn't have to mail this one, I knew I could just overload it with flowers, so I went a little crazy, but I love the result.  I'm pretty sure my mom liked it too, and I am so grateful to be able to have been able to present it to her in person.
Sketch is an older one from The Sweet Stop # 138

Papers:  Basic Grey - Plumeria, "Budding Lavendar" and "Graceful Vine".
Embellishments:  W.O.C. and Recollections flowers, Brads from stash, Recollections stick pin, Martha Stewart "Tropical Lantern" stickers, Ribbon from Michaels, Recollections pearls (in her hair).

Challenges:
Party Time Tuesdays - #81 Garden Delights

Tammy's Scrappin Corner - Add some flowers
Stampalot Challenge - Take Flight

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Give your mums a hug!

They Say It's Your Birthday!

Holy moly, can you believe is is AUGUST already?!  Summer is almost over, sniffle sniffle.  It's so cliche, but where does the time GO?  Seriously.  Well, at least there are some things to look forward to as the summer winds down, one of them being a fabulous new sponsor at The Corrosive Challenge Blog!  This month we are so very lucky to be sponsored by Saturated Canary.  Owner Krista Smith's images are super adorable, and she is always adding new ones to her shop.  We are also celebrating our fearless leader Regan's birthday this month.  So in honor of Miss Regan, and all the other Leo's out there, the challenge this fortnight is to make a birthday card.  Easy, right?  This may ruin the surprise a little, but I decided to make this one for Regan.  Since I have dubbed her "Queen of Embellishments", I threw all caution to the wind and just went crazy (for me) with embellies.  I started out with Usherette from the Saturated Canary shop.  (I just realized as I am writing this that the whole reason I picked this image was because I had popcorn paper, and forgot to use it!  LOL).  She is colored with Copics.  The filmstrip behind her was found just with a Google search, and I added glossy accents to the black part to give it more dimension.  Both the filmstrip and Usherette are popped up with 3D Dots.  It's hard to see but I used some red netting at the bottom of the filmstrip, and made a flower using the scraps (over on the left there).  This was a ton of fun to make, and I hope it is worthy of the Queen ;-)

Papers:  Recollections (background and polka dots), DCWV Lady Couture Stack (red stripes), and Rockstar Stack (the stars).
Embellies:  Recollections + WOC Roses, Recollections brads, Ribbon and rhinestone swirls.  Queen + Co pearls.  Simplicity Christmas trim.  Tim Holtz idea-ology Adage Ticket.

Sketch was an older one from Tickled Pink Challenges:
My mother's birthday is the same day as Regan's, and my Aunt's was August 1st so I have been a busy crafter!  I'm sure you all know someone who is celebrating their birth soon, be sure to join in the fun for a chance to win some Saturated Canary digis to play with.  Be sure to check out the rest of the team's fantabulous creations over at The Corrosive Challenge.

Happy Birthday!
